Google Ads vs. SEO: The Secret Google Doesn’t Want You To Know About

Hey, I hope you’re having a wonderful day. My name is Jeff Tormey and I’m the founder of SEO Guru Atlanta here to talk to you a little bit about getting found online. If you’re reading this or watching the video below, you’re probably a business owner and you probably want to get more business from your Web site. So, if that’s the case, we all know about this giant company that has a free Web site that you can use, that’s called Google. There’s no escaping Google if you’re in business, you’ve got to make sure that people can find you on Google through their ads or through what they call “organic search results”. Those are search results below the ads.So, I just wanted to let you in on something that’s a bit of a secret… and you know, maybe you could think about this in your own online behavior a little bit and what you find yourself doing. Some Websites out there say that 65% of people click on the paid ads at the top. I don’t think that is true at all, plus you have to look at desktop versus mobile. So, for desktop, about 65% click on an organic search result on page one. So, that means they’re not clicking on an ad and about 35 percent of people don’t click on anything on the first page. I don’t know why they were searching for anything, but they don’t click on anything. Maybe, they got distracted by Facebook or something and now went off and did something else. With mobile, the numbers are a little bit different; about 38 percent will click on an organic search result below the ads, about 3.4 percent will click on an ad and about 62 percent don’t click on anything. So again, why were they searching? So, you can see that if you want to capture the whole market, at least the whole market on Google, you probably want to have paid ads and really high position on the first page of Google for the keywords that people are searching for.If you want to find out how well your site ranks on Google and maybe why it’s not ranking as good as you wish it did, you can get a free SEO audit right here at my web site. You don’t have to sign up for anything, I’m not trying to sell you anything, not going to bug you. But you can go there and get a free audit of your Website. So, if you want to do all that stuff yourself, you certainly can. You can also put in your competitor’s websites and see how well you stack up to your competitors and see maybe why they’re showing up on page one and you’re not. You can do that here. We’re here in Atlanta, but we do business with companies all over the United States and really all over the world. So, you can go there and see how well you’re doing because if you want to be able to capture your whole market, do you want to be just doing paid ads? The great thing about paid ads, is you go to Google Ads (formerly called Adwords), you create your ad, put in your credit card information and then your ad starts showing up. That’s how Google got to be Google, an unbelievably wealthy company because they were selling these ads. They got a great algorithm for figuring out how to make those ads appear; and it’s an auction, so whoever is paying the most money is going to get to the top. Then Google will see how much others are willing to pay per click. That’s kind of how that works. So, there are paid ads and then the organic search results, which a lot of people do prefer. The problem with SEO is it takes longer to do, so a lot of times we’re running Google Facebook ads Facebook ads because SEO can take some months before you start to get ranked high on page one, kind of depending on your niche and your location and what you want to rank for. So, if you want to get started right away, you can do some paid ads and do SEO.Many of our clients end up getting so much business from SEO (Search Engine Optimization), showing up high on the first page of Google, that they’ll turn off their Google ads . Or sometimes it’s seasonal, so for seasonal business, they’ll turn on the ads when they’re really want to hit hard, they really want everybody to find them, they want to get as many new calls as they can because it’s a seasonal business, like HVAC, lawn care, pool services or another kind of seasonal business. That’s kind of nice because then they can control how much traffic they’re getting and they’re not always paying for it, but it’s always coming in. That’s the good thing about getting ranked high on the first page of Google. People will always find you and then when you really want to get more phone calls or more people to your Website, then you can kick in the paid ads. So, that’s a really good strategy. Hope this was helpful to you. And I will talk to you next time.
